The Principal's Corner
Mrs. Darla Wall, Principal
Master's Degree l Elementary Education and Administration
Hello Officer Family,
The staff and I are very excited to welcome you back for a wonderful school year. We know we are a wonderful family of staff, parents, students, and community members. Let us start out our new year at school with hopes and dreams that no matter how limited we might be, we will do our best to achieve what we call dreams. Many of us dream such amazing things, but what actions are we doing to make them a reality? What it takes is believing that we can do all that we dream and more.
Mindset is our way of thinking positively and the importance of having an open mindset is important for all to understand that we can make a difference and that change is you and in your dreams. Annette Officer Elementary School believes that all students can and will learn. We all learn in a variety of ways but we can still learn. Success is in our reach and we will continue to strive in gaining that success that we see in our dreams and beyond. This is our year, and we are making it possible with the help of our entire Officer family!
Mrs. Roshonda Harriel, Assistant Principal
Master's Degree | Educational Leadership
Greetings Annette Officer Family,
It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction as the new Assistant Principal of Annette Officer Elementary School. I am incredibly grateful and excited to join the Officer Family! I look forward to working in partnership with Mrs. Wall and the staff to continue the work of advocating for and providing all students with an educational experience that will prepare them to be model students and productive citizens of our community.
On a personal note, I am a wife and mother of three. I am a proud product of the East Saint Louis School District. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2005, a Master of Arts in Education with my Reading Endorsement from Lindenwood University in 2010, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Mckendree University in 2020. I have served in the educational field for 17 years in various capacities, 14 of those years being in the East Saint Louis School District at Edgemont Elementary and Paul Laurence Dunbar. Over the years I have served as a classroom teacher, mentor teacher, instructional coach, and academic intervention teacher.
I strive for excellence and believe in holding all of our students accountable for their actions. I am a firm believer in overcoming obstacles and solving everyday problems by making the right choice, allowing children to think, reflect, discuss, and debate the problem at hand. It is our duty to guide them, expose them, and help them develop their wisdom.
I truly believe great schools are a result of great teachers and staff. I look forward to collaborating with the staff and families at Annette Officer Elementary to ensure that all students continue to grow emotionally, socially, and academically!!
